Candles Are Mutagenic??! Say It Ain't Soooo!
What in the name of all that is holy right?! We know we thought the same thing. Which is why we said oh heck no! And then we made our own. We love candles and we weren't willing to fore sake our health! We know you feel the same.
When we first heard this we wanted to make sure it was true, and boyyy... did we find out it was indeed, a fact. Below is exactly how, The why is what we can't quite figure out for fact but, We can conclude that the makers either don't know, or they don't care. Either way, neither option is a good enough of a reason to poison or be poisoned, so we are offering you other options :)

What does mutagenic even mean??
Mutagenic means... a substance that mutates your genes.. yep you read that right. *In genetics, a mutagen is a physical or chemical agent that permanently changes genetic material, usually DNA, in an organism and thus increases the frequency of mutations above the natural background level. As many mutations can cause cancer, such mutagens are therefore carcinogens, although not all necessarily are.

What makes a candle mutagenic?
Most candles on the market today are toxic and contain known carcinogens such as benzene and toluene (comes from paraffin; which is a petroleum waste product that is chemically bleached and used in waxes and scents for candles. Yikes!). Once we found out about this alarming fact, we set out to make our own non toxic candles, this way we could not only enjoy the beauty of candles and good health, we could share it with you too.
Anything that says "Fragrance" on a candle or beauty product is synthetic and comes from the bottom of the barrel petroleum waste. Gross! Not to mention how it disrupts your reproductive system and mimics estrogen!
